Programme - Bronze Age

BRONZE AGE TANGED SICKLES

The aim of the research:

  • to lay out the distribution of the single types and variants respectively
  • to establish the chronological determination
  • to research how the sickles were made,
  • application .

The sickles found in Slovenia up to date serve as the starting-point of this research. Firstly, new typological and chronological classifications were made. The results are in the process of being published in the Prähistorische Bronzefunde series. In the course of time, the range of research has been broadened to include all of Europe. Currently research efforts are focused on sickles from the territory of the Pannonian Plain and the northern Balkans.
