Programme - Ancient History and Epigraphy Based on the collected epigraphic material from Slovenia (and partly from ex- Yugoslavia) by Jaroslav Šašel who also created the epigraphical photo archives, the project is one of the oldest at the Institute of Archaeology. The aim of the project is to publish all Roman inscriptions from the four Roman autonomous towns of the present-day Slovenian territory, including their administrative territories: Emona (present-day Ljubljana, Italy, Regio X), Celeia (Celje, Noricum), Poetovio (Ptuj), and Neviodunum (Drnovo pri Krškem, Pannonia). To date two books were published: the lapidarium of the National Museum of Slovenia (containing half of the inscriptions from Emona), as well as Neviodunum (Šašel Kos 1997; M. Lovenjak, Inscriptiones Latinae Sloveniae 1: Neviodunum [Situla 37], Ljubljana 1998). Four more volumes are planned: one including the inscriptions from Celeia (Julijana Visočnik), one comprising the Emona inscriptions (Šašel Kos), two volumes including the inscriptions from Poetovio (Milan Lovenjak). *** The northeastern area of Regio X and the provinces of Noricum and Pannonia.
