Dragan Boič Late La Tène-Roman cemetery in Novo mesto. 2. History of research of the Beletov vrt cemetery with its surroundings
In this chapter the investigations in the Ljubljanska cesta and Okrajno glavarstvo areas, on the construction site of Vojska house and on the Skabernetov vrt (Skaberne's garden) are presented in detail. The subchapter 2.2 Written sources for the history of research comprises printed and manuscript sources related to Ljubljanska cesta, Okrajno glavarstvo and Vojska house. Most of the printed sources were already known to Tone Knez, who published many of them in several of his publications. We have found some new items: one in Slovenski narod, three in Laibacher Zeitung and several fragments of the annual reports of the Provincial Museum, published in the little known publication Obravnave deelnega zbora kranjskega v Ljubljani. Of the manuscript sources Knez knew of the records of the Vienna curator Josef Szombathy, made on the occasion of his visit of the construction site of the Okrajno glavarstvo building in October 1902. Among the numerous new ones the most important are the letters of Jernej Pečnik to the Zentral-Kommission and to Szombathy. Pečnik visited both excavations (in 1890 and in 1902), which means that his data come from a primary source. *** 2008, Katalogi in monografije 39, 240 pages, 91 colour and b-w photos, drawings, tables and maps, 33 plates, 24 x 32,8 cm, hardcover, ISBN 978-961-6169-60-8. |
