Dragan Boič Late La Tène-Roman cemetery in Novo mesto. 3. Some types of the Late La Tène fibulae
In the third chapter the Nauheim type fibulae, found on the sites of the Mokronog Group, are analyzed first. They very probably originate from northern Italy.
The Nova vas type fibulae can be divided into relatively rare large and frequently found small examples. They were probably produced in the territory of Aquileia. They have almost exclusively been found in settlements and sanctuaries. Only two were found in graves, one in Novo mesto and one at Iutizzo in Friuli. The child's grave from Iutizzo indicates a date in the middle European phase LT D1b.
The Idrija Ia type fibulae probably belonged to female costume of the phase Mokronog IIIb or the middle European LT D2. They are spread from Carinthia to the Una Valley in Bosnia. Most of them come from graves in Novo mesto and at Mihovo under the Gorjanci hills. Single specimens of the Dolenjska variant (Idrija Ia1) were found also outside Dolenjska, e. g. at Idrija pri Bači and at Sisak. The variant Idrija Ia2 is known only in Carinthia, Kranj, Kobarid and in the Una Valley, but not in Dolenjska. *** 2008, Katalogi in monografije 39, 240 pages, 91 colour and b-w photos, drawings, tables and maps, 33 plates, 24 x 32,8 cm, hardcover, ISBN 978-961-6169-60-8. |
