RESNIKOV PREKOP. The oldest pile-dwelling settlement in the Ljubljansko barje Metka CULIBERG: Plant remains from the archaeological site at Resnikov prekop Abstract The paper discusses the macropalaeobotanic finds from the prehistoric settlement at Resnikov prekop in the Ljubljansko barje. Complementing the taxa found at other pile-dwelling settlements (Corylus, Cornus, Quercus, Vitis, cerealia etc.), there were many new ones discovered here - mostly seeds from trees that grow in this environment. The most frequent were remains of alder cones (Alnus), hornbeam seeds (Carpinus) and some bladdernut seeds (Staphylea pinnata). Two radiocarbon dates - of Staphylea (680-880 cal AD) and Corylus (412-541 cal AD) - confirmed the assumption that the finds do not belong to the piledwelling settlement. Key words: Resnikov prekop, Ljubljansko barje, Slovenia, carpologic analysis
